Stories remain untold…until the day someone comes along and pushes the envelope. Much of the time we hold prized creative possessions closely to our chest in fear that releasing them to the wild causes it to shift shape from its original form. Such is the case with the majestic presence of Kehdex as each of her songs take on a life of their own. There is beauty in the struggle and there is struggle in her beauty.
Kehdex is an incredibly talented singer-songwriter from Schenectady, NY. It is an injustice to pigeonhole her output into one category. She can sing, dance, prance and belt out the smoothest tunes. The raspiness of her voice, melodic mastery and eccentric delivery all place her in a similar category to Lana Del Rey or what some might call ‘ambient bedroom pop.’ But here we go, trying to categorize when in reality – this woman is extraterrestrial. Not of this planet and often misunderstood places her in the same category as this channel – GENRE-BENDING WIZARDRY infused due to difference of approach – WE ARE NOT THE SAME, I AM A MARTIAN.
Kehdex encountered a steep uphill battle back to the music during the past year. Enduring hardships in the form of loss and mental instability pushed her musical priorities to the side. Kehdex represents what it means to put one foot in front of the other to stick it out for, “one more day.” One step at a time – feed yourself one positive line and keep elevating. Along her path, Kehdex found a way to conquer both of these tasks – she began to spread positive mental health awareness through musical performances.
Witnessing greatness in real-time is a fascinating and unfamiliar experience. Kehdex is open to lyrical suggestions and the way she concocts a melody in real time is enthralling. Being in the right position to capture her output has led to the observance of extremely neat ways to create music.
This summer alone, Kehdex & Fresh have released one song and one music video to go with that song. We have enough scenes to complete another music video for the song “Fireworks” set to drop on August 11th. We have planted nostalgic grassroots by sharing physical CD’s and business cards to radio stations. At the end of this week, we will embark upon a recording session with Prod M.Smash where the everlasting enchantment of Kehdex will be on full display as she pieces together strands of voice notes to create a masterpiece.
