Duckman: Alaska’s Arctic Rapper | Music from the Tundra

Duckman marches to the beat of his own frigid cadence. As is the case, Duckman reigns from Anchorage, Alaska with cold rhymes and a relatable backstory. Arctic bars prove that you don’t need to be from a well-traveled area to get on the map. With ability through the roof, this man represents for the Boniface, Muldoon, and Reka areas of Alaska.

Duckman earned his keep and dropped multiple mixtapes before his most recent “Black Soprano Eskimo” release. His own label goes by the name of Bad Boy Nation and he has acquired distribution from Empire Records.

FROM THE TUNDRA

Duckman drops music on a national level which proves location remains irrelevant. In Alaska, he understands that, “Nobody gonna ever come and try to save us.” Linking up with another cold area [Buffalo’s Black Soprano Family] proved to be a wise move from the sounds of his most recent mixtape.

Duckman started making music for his friends to enjoy and continued to grow within the craft from that point. His tremendous ability to progress from mixtape to mixtape remains one of several reasons his name continues to ring.

-Believe it or not – not everyone in Alaska drives like an ice road trucker.-

This Alaskan artist shared the music made with his friends through private Dropbox links. He still continues this practice to this day and truly helped his friends get through some rough times. His first mixtape, “Back to Da East” dropped in 2017 while he was on house arrest which made it difficult to properly promote the release.

His 2018 album “The Slim Show” certainly helped many of his friends grieve the loss of a person they loved dearly. He also lost his nephew on the same day that Nipsey Hussle passed away. This tragic occurrence left him unable to postpone the drop of a premiere release on BET with Blac Youngsta. The track would go on to dissolve.

Moultrie provides a magnificent blend of soulful slow sounds with uptempo cadences. Over the span of 7 years, he has dropped 8 albums. Most recently, his collaboration with Black Soprano Family landed him one of the best collections of the year.

You know the feeling when you love a song so much that you play it into the ground? The most rewinadble song on Black Soprano Eskimo goes by the name of, “Cullinan” and features Sauce Walka.  This bop will make you wanna blow your car speakers as it hits right in the heart with of smooth soulful and strong energy.

-There’s nothing different about his story, he’s just telling it from a more frigid lens.-

Brand Angles

Ghetto Gospel featuring Elcamino rings true for listeners across the globe. This soulful concept reiterates previous work done by the likes of these two. Anytime you connect with Camino just know the business aspects will always contain multiple angles and opportunity to build upon foundational elements.

Karma really stands out above all other tracks on BSE. Duckman proves his ability to carry a track solo dolo and truly created a masterpiece. The vibe and calmness projected by this song showcase the reason why he continues to elevate and create works of genius.

Fuego Base, Heem, Big K.R.I.T. all did their thing on the Black Soprano Eskimo album too. It is truly remarkable to see the way these artists band together to provide features and camaraderie for an artist who is on the rise.

It is public record to search the biggest drug bust in Alaska history and find Duckman’s government name. He did his time and used music as a platform to overcome his struggles. His past history combined with relatability to loss/overcoming hardships contribute to his allure as an artist.

Everybody got somebody that they wish was livin

Gotta look into yourself before you blame somebody

Gotta know how karma comin before you play somebody
