Where I grew up in Ohio was very rural. Josh Scott wore ankle weights on game day and went by the name of J Skeez. Today, we will cover Jae Skeese of Buffalo, NY.
This man shares a true tale of destiny through dedication. Trips to Destiny U.S.A. in Syracuse showed and proved his squeaky clean fashion within Western NY.

Reigning incredibly as a sneakerhead led him to create 4 versions of EKIN [NIKE backwards] thus far. A wealth of sneaker knowledge appears on every Skeese tape. I mean Sheesh just look at the places his sneakers have taken him.
His decision to take the trip to NYC had Conway the Machine waiting in the wings. After a few moves made in the industry, Skeese believed the invitation from Conway was to record verses. His decision to take the trip after that e-mail from Conway landed him a record deal.

Today, his album Ground Level stomped the concrete all throughout the nation and overseas. Starting from the bottom and climbing the ranks of retail was never the route for him. Now after many solid projects and Drumwork/Empire backing he climbs the ranks of underground East Coast hip-hop.

This Ground Level tape carries his momentum up the ladder another wrung. As he puts one bar atop another he proceeds to build Brick by Brick. The middle portion of the album moves the entire tape forward. The livest track is #3Situated as he remains Sitchy Skeese + Sauce Walka x BIG KRIT tore the whole track down. His guest appearances have been sending tracks to the smolders lately.
Another version of EKIN served listeners some serious heat for their headtop. For those who don’t know the original version of Ekin manages to make thirteen sneaker references as he “licks the sole when they contact his cuticles.”
Ohana Means Family provided wholesome vibes and a great bridge between the front half and back half of the album. The album closed out with some very strong features as well via Che Noir, Smoke DZA, Project Pat and how we could we forget Billie Essco. Essco’s sauce and seasoning could never be undermined en route to connecting Skeese to the GRISELDA Machine.

To this point, we have written the entire article without once peeking at our notations. Today, we’ll spill some sauce on how to write – we view every article on pages 1-3 related to the artist. Search terms: Name, bio, background, info. Step 2 – outline findings in your own words + use indentation to separate. Lastly, put your own spin on it – it ain’t about who did it first – it’s about doing right by yourself and doing it in a new way nobody else could duplicate.
GROUND LEVEL Part 2 will arrive with more in-depth coverage and -*God-willing*- an interview in NYC. Stay tuned. Stay locked. Stay fresh.
